A new full-line supermarket of 2,6500² and six speciality retail stores of approximately 4900² with associated loading docks, car parking, civil works and landscaping.

Coles, in conjunction with the developer, his architects and the Department of Industry Tourism and Resources, developed a “Greening of Coles” initiative, the first in the retail supermarket sector, to improve the energy and environmental performance of Coles Stores.

This supermarke was the first store to be built and incorporates 40 new energy and resource efficiency initiatives and represents a commitment by Coles to continuous energy improvement.

Many of the environmental initiatives designed into this new building required careful control and planning by SJ Higgins Group project staff to ensure that the required details and outcomes were achieved in the final product. Close co-operation and dialogue was fostered between the various multidisciplinary consultants and the sub-trades responsible for carrying out the works.
