Overview
Mentone Girls' Grammar School's Creativity Centre brings together performing and visual arts, food technology, and materials technology in one dynamic space.
Working alongside Kneeler Architects, we proudly delivered the innovative two-level design which features a 450-seat theatre, visual arts studios, recording and photography studios, two dance studios, active learning zones, woodwork areas, 3D labs, robotics and IT zones, landscaped courtyards, and a double-height central gallery space.
As the school’s largest development to date, we built the centre to complement existing facilities while setting a new benchmark for integrated learning environments. The school's vision called for a dynamic space that fosters collaboration across disciplines and enables students to share their creative outcomes with the broader school community.
This was realised through a central chasm that runs through the heart of the building, designed to promote both a visual and physical connection between faculties. A series of internal voids and multi-level spaces encourage spontaneous interaction and create a sense of unity among users, reinforcing the centre as a true hub of creativity and connection.
